Club Rules

Affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain

through The Midlands Counties Photographic Federation

 

(1) The Club shall be called The Whitchurch Photographic Society. Membership is open to anyone interested in photography.

(2) The aim of the society is to provide a forum for carrying out and furtherance of the knowledge of photography.

(3) The annual subscription shall be fixed for the following year at the Annual General Meeting. The name of any member whose subscription is in arrears after 31 December may be removed from the list by order of the committee. The club year shall be 1st June to 31st May
(4) The officers shall consist of a President and Chairman, Secretary, treasurer, competition secretary and syllabus secretary IT Secretary and Membership Secretary.
The Chairmans term in office will normally be 3 years; the officers to be elected annually at the AGM.
(5) Society affairs shall be managed by the committee consisting of the offices of whom the president shall ex official and 3 co opted members.
(6) The winners of the Monochrome, colour print and projected image competitions will be asked to form the selection committee for the next years interclub competitions, a fourth member can be co-opted to help.
(7) Special meetings may be convened on a requisition signed by at least four members stating the object and sent to the secretary at least 14 days before the date proposed.
(8) A committee meetings four shall form a quorum and at general meetings eight.
(9) The secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings and conduct the correspondence of the society.
The treasurer shall collect all subscriptions and monies due. A balance sheet shall be drawn up by the person appointed by the committee.
All society expenditure over and above the approved club programmed must be authorized by the committee.
(10) A member maybe expelled from the society at the decision of the committee.
The committee can request a member to appear before it, provided that where any accusation or charge be made, the member shall be given full an reasonable opportunity to put forward a defense and bring witnesses at a later meeting. Any member expelled or asked to resign shall have the right of appeal to a special general meeting called for the purpose.
All committee proceedings and those of any special meetings called under this rule shall be treated as privileged and confidential.
(11) No alteration or addition to these rules shall be made except at the AGM or a special meeting called in accordance with rule 7.
(12) Membership of the society implies an undertaking to comply with and abide by these rules.

Competition Rules

(1) There shall be classes for monochrome and colour Prints and projected images open to all. Prints can be trade or home processed.
Any digital image manipulation of elements of a picture must be the authors own work and based on an original photographic image taken by the member.
It is not necessary to declare that any print or projected image entered in a competition have been produced digitally.

(2) Up to four entries per member may be entered in each competition. They must be numbered in order of preference. Only 3 entries are eligible for points.

(3) Prints must be mounted and may be of any size up to a maximum of 20” x 16”
Digital Projected images must be 1024 pixels on max width and 768 pixels max height..
(4) Work may be entered in no more than 3 competitions unless it is placed 1st 2nd 3rd when it will be ineligible for any further competitions other than Print or Projected image of the year.
(5) One point will be awarded for each Piece of work entered. An additional 5 points will be awarded for 1st place 4pts for 2nd place 3pts for 3rd place 2 pts for 4 place and 1pt for 5th place. At the end of each season, trophies will be awarded to the members in each class with the highest number of points.
Any member providing they have entered at least one other print competition may enter up to 4 pieces of work, in the monochrome and colour print of the year competition. A piece of work may be entered for 3 such competitions unless it is placed 1st 2nd or 3rd when it is ineligible for any further competitions. Other than Print of the year.
The same rules apply to Projected image .

(6) Prints and Digital images must be entered by the set date. Usually One week before the competitions. Late entries will not be accepted.
Portfolio competition Printed images only (max size 20” x 16” when mounted)
6 Subjects
Landscape, monochrome, natural history, portrait, speed/sport, open subject.
This unique competition will take us out of our comfort zone and give us an opportunity to try something different.
Tillman Kleinhans ARPS EFIAP DPAGB will judge the competitions over 3 evenings. Competition dates 3rd Jan , 31st Jan , 20 March.
As each section of the judging is to be on one subject, each evening will create 2 “mini master classes” in those subjects.
This will give us all a great opportunity to benefit from Tillman’s professional
critique.
Entries to be Printed only.
Please register if you will be entering the competition so we can decide if it is one or two prints per member per section.

Any member may enter up to two sequences. Total running time for sequence or sequences shall be no longer the fifteen minutes.
Documentary competition
Dr and Mrs. Norton Trophy for 1st place
WPS Cup for 2nd place
WPS Shield for 3rd place
The total running time of the presentation or presentations shall be no longer than fifteen minutes.
The emphasis of the presentations shall be upon the transmission of knowledge information and understanding in an effective manner.
The material may be presented in the form of Print Or projected image sequences, the documentary may be written spoken or recorded.
