24-1-2012 Steve Lloyd with

“Verities and Balderdash” Joined us at the club.
For me it was one of the most enjoyable evenings so far this season. His images although weren’t straight photos seem to capture the atmosphere and energy . Truly inspirational. The AVs he showed at the end were amazing, the choice of music almost seemed to have been written just for his AV. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. I wish he had a website I’d like to look at his work again. Picture opposite

The competition was held at Shrewsbury.

M C for the competition was Mr Steve Jackson from Shropshire Photographic Society who made the evening complete with his friendly and entertaining comments.

The judge was Mr Gary Jackson from Stourbridge Photographic Society a very knowledgeable judge.

The standard of entries in the competition was very high, and from the start it was anexciting battle.

By the end Bridgnorth had 5 of the 10 top scoring images and was a clear winner. We finished third a respectable result in view of the high standard of competition.

"Summer Gems"

A good turn out for the Summer gems evening and some very interesting images. It was great to see the members recent images and some from the new members work .

"Dr Dayus Lectrure"

4th October 2011

The evening titled
"Introduction to Creative Photography"
By Mr Tony Winfield.

www.tonywinfieldfineartphotography.com

A very informative evening at the club.
With nearly 30 members at the meeting including a few new ones.
The talk started with a brief discussion on Art in photography. Using the artists imagination to create a pleasing image.
Followed by the different types of photography. A record shot where you are taking an accurate record of the subject and the more artistic photography which adds more creativity to the image.
We then watched the first of 3 Projected AVs (Audio visual) about "Weird and Wonderful photographs". The Av depicted a dream with some stunning moody images put to music.
Tony then showed us some images and discussed their merits with lots of helpful tips and ideas.
We then discussed different filters that are available to enhance your photographs.
Tony then showed us a stunning Pictures to music AV showing the different styles of images.
We then looked into how to improve our images and use different programmes on your computer to add finishing touches to the photos.
Tony finished the evening with images to music called
"Dare to be Different"
These images were stunning, encouraging us to be creative with our Photos.
We all left the meeting with many ideas and enthusiasm for trying to be more creative with our photography.
Next meetings on 11th Oct "Summer Gems" members bring along images taken this summer and we discuss and help each other with any advice we may need.

Norman Land has contacted Ian to invite members of WPS to
visit their club on Wednesday 28th Sept. They are having a visiting speaker David Moulton "Space Photographer" who apparently uses an SLR camera to get some amazing images. It sounds a very interesting evening Malc and I are definately going. Meetings there start at 7.45pm for 8pm venue The Piercy Hall. Marchweil Wrexham just off the A525.

Nantwich show Exhibition was a great success.

We had a stand in the Town and country Marquee.
It was a very busy and hot day.
Barb and I arrived at about 7.15 am and started setting up. We had recently bought a new display stand which we lent the club for the day, it was the first time we had used it, so we were keen to make sure it worked ok. Paul Hardern arrived next with his images and framed prints he dropped these off and went to work at the show. He was the shows official photographer for the day.
We set the stand up and were pleased with the results. We had designed, printed and laminated lots of signs to put on the stand to try and make sure the stand had maximum impact. We also wanted to get the message out that it is the clubs 50th anniversary year and the club is holding a photo competition for the public. Chris and Marian arrived and bought us very welcome cups of coffee before they went to explore the show. Paul Hayward, John Edge and his wife Angie arrived mid morning . We then took it in turns to man the stand and have a look around the show . We had a successful day talking to lots of people and accepted many complimentary comments about the images on show. We had several people showing an interest in joining the club, lets hope they come along to the meetings! We also sold a few ex competition prints. We started packing up at about 6pm very warm and tired and were on our way home by 7.15 pm. A very long hot day but very enjoyable.
Thanks to Paul Hardern for getting the Stand for the club.

We are trying to put together a "50 years of the WPS" book.
We are looking for any Old photos anecdotes comments,

We had a very well attended and entertaining evening with Margaret Salisbury FSITTP as a guest speaker.
One of the coutries leading photographers and one of only 100 in the world to reach the highest standard qualification with the Royal Photographic Society.
Margaret started the evening talking about how she started in photography
doing Black and white (Monochrome) only and then as digital cameras arrived she changed to colour. Margaret specialises in Landscape photography.
With lots of hints and tips on how to achieve that special picture.
Margaret then moved on to show us photographs from a trip she had taken to Garna. Showing how the day to day life was for the village people, and how she had used her photography to record it. the images showed people going about their day to day lifes and not just posing for the camera. A truly entertaining evening and a wonderful chance to see some outstanding work.
One of the most memorable pictures was a group of children smiling, Margaret cropped the picture to show just their smiling faces and beautiful eyes.
Our next meeting is a competition for all members "Pictures to music"
Members can show images on any subject and display them to music.
Always a fun and interesting evening.
