Competition Rules

1.  Members must have paid their annual WPS subscriptions before they are eligible to enter any competition.

2.  Prints and PDI's must be entered by the set date, normally one week before the competition.  Late entries will not usually be accepted.

3.  There are normally three programmed 'Club Competitions' each year – Open, Set Subject and This Year’s Work (taken in the previous 12 months).  There are classes in each Competition open to all members for - Monochrome Prints, Colour Prints, and Projected Digital Images (PDI's). Members may enter one, two or all three of these classes in each competition.  Up to two images per member may be entered in each class i.e. Six images, maximum in each of the Open, Set Subject and This Year’s Work (post 01.01.16) competitions.  Judges will be asked to provide a score of 1-20 for each  image. At the end of each season, trophies will be awarded in each class to the members with the highest number of points across the three competitions.

4.  An image may be entered in no more than three WPS 'Club Competitions' unless it is placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd when it will be ineligible for any further WPS Club Competitions, other than Print or Projected Digital Image of the Year and the Portfolio Competition.

5.  In the 'Portfolio Competition', only one print per section per member may be submitted. The six subjects for the Portfolio Competition are Landscape, Monochrome, Portrait (human being), Open Nature (wild or captive and plants), Still Life (study of inanimate objects) and Open. These subjects may be reviewed at an Annual General Meeting. These images are to have been taken after 1st January 2016.  The competition is split into two rounds, the subjects for round one are Landscape, Monochrome and Portrait.

6.  The 'Created in Camera Competition' is for images with minimal computer manipulation. Each member can enter 2 PDI's, note - no prints. No parts of the photograph may be removed, added or moved by software. Images may be cropped, sharpened, adjusted for saturation and contrast and have dust spots removed, but no other manipulation is allowed. Entrants will be required to provide both the original image and the final entry. (Only the entry will be judged).

7.  Any member, providing they have entered at least one other print  competition, may enter up to two images, in the Monochrome Print of the Year and two images in the Colour Print of the Year competitions. Likewise any member, providing they have entered at least one PDI competition, may enter up to two images, in the PDI of the Year competition.
